Campus Ambassadors for Christ, or CA for short, allows students to connect with others who share a common faith in God, by gathering for weekly events, both on and off campus. The group has been a part of LBCC’s club list for over 10 years.
With chapters in only nine states, Oregon itself has seven clubs, all of which are in the Willamette Valley. LBCC’s club is closely connected to OSU’s club. Both schools clubs meet together weekly in Corvallis to play games, meet other people in a similar life stage and hear Bible teachings.
One active CA member, Rose Petersen, says “At LBCC we have I would say 5-12 people that come to events like Bible studies.” Along with Bible Studies, CA members also meet Friday mornings at Dutch Brother’s across from OSU, play basket ball on Wednesday nights and go on retreats twice a year together. CA is also involved in the community. Although this year’s activities have yet to be determined, Petersen says “Last year we did about a service project once a month in Corvallis.”
LBCC Business instructor Jack Stone been an advisor for five years. Recently, Stone hasn’t been available to fulfill all the roles of a club advisor, so CA also has Dave Becker as an advisor. Former LBCC staff member and OSU alumni Jason Pittman is now a club representative for LBCC, OSU and Western Oregon University. He is often at one of these campuses promoting CA, attending one of their events or connecting with students to better understand the population the club is serving.
More information about this club can be found under the campus clubs link under Student Life on LBCC’s main page.
